So what does this indictment to do Barry Bonds and his body of work? Do we forget that he is the all time homerun king and the greatest player of this era? Or do we only think of him as a cheater who got what he deserves in the end? And is what he deserves the homerun record, or is it Jail?
Well I am angry, raging actually after hearing of the indictment, and I am not angry at Bonds. I am angry at the whole process that went after him, after it should have been up to baseball to regulate itself with in and out of season testing, with a steroid policy when McGwire and Sosa had their merry chase of Roger Maris and baseball and baseball fans were all giddy ga-ga over it. Now the man that was better than any of them and maybe used because he saw lesser players skyrocketing to fame beyond that of his. There is absolutely no doubt that Sosa and McGwire were juiced, so was Brady Anderson, Rafael Palmerio, Jose Canseco, Jason Giambi and hundreds (yes hundreds) of lesser known major and minor league players. However when Bonds first started using (if he used) there was no steroid policy in baseball, so why not indict baseball, put that sorry commissioner in jail for colluding with Sosa/McGwire et al. and let Bonds just deal with the ignominy of having been labeled a cheater. Jail time, this is beyond ridiculous, it is sick and makes me wonder where we lost our way in terms of what is and is not important in life.
